Louis Joos is specialized in black and white comics, mostly situated in a jazzy atmosphere. His first album, 'Le Colaxa', appeared in 1982 at Futuropolis publishers. It was soon followed by albums like 'Saxo Cool', 'Foutue Croisière', 'Le Mal de l'Espace', 'Musique de la Nuit' and 'Marvin Gaye - Transit Ostende', which all appeared throughout the 1980s. At the same time, Joos drew 'Ostende-Miami' for the Belgian Ice Crim's periodical, as well as comics for the fanzine P.L.G.P.P.U.R. and Circus.

Louis Joos teamed up with the scenarist Yann in 1990 and they created 'O.A.S. - Aïscha', a comic published in album by Glénat. A year later Joos illustrated a comic adaptation of Marc Villard's 'La Dame est une Traînée' in the Série Noire collection of Futuropolis. From 1995, his work appeared at Points Image publishers, with albums like 'Thélonius Monk', 'Blues', 'Mood Indigo' and 'Mingus'. In the 1990s, Louis Joos also took on illustrating in the juvenile genre. He is a teacher in comics and illustration with the Boitsfort Academy in Brussels.
