Punctures, by Shintaro Kago
Punctures

Shintaro Kago is a manga artist, who works in the "guro" genre, that focuses on eroticism, sexual corruption and decadence. Kago's style has been called "fashionable paranoia", dealing with grotesque themes like extreme sex, violence and abnormality. Since his debut in Comic Box in 1988, his often bizarre work has been published in several adult manga magazines, gaining him considerable popularity. His short story 'Punctures' (about a man who is so paranoid about getting holes in anything that he rather makes the punctures himself before it really happens) has been translated into English and published in the 'Secret Comics Japan' collection of underground publications.

His satirical manga 'Kagayake! Daitōakyōeiken', set in a fictional world where Japan wins World War II through oversized tanks in the shapes of schoolgirls, was published by Ota Shuppan in 1999. Many book publications followed. Some of his work, like the 2009 one-shot 'Fraction' and his erotic book 'Anamorphosis', was also published in France. Besides guro, he has also made more mainstream science fiction manga since 2001, such as the serials 'Chōtennō Paratakushisu' ('Super-Conductive Brains Parataxis'), 'Hannya Haramita' und 'Occult byōtō 24-ji' for Weekly Young Jump. His serial 'Kijin Gahō' ran in Manga Erotics F in 2002 and 2003.
