Louis Markous was an illustrator, who worked for Le Petit Journal Illustré in the early 19th century. He is also known as a cubist painter under the name Marcoussis. Born in Poland as Ludwik Kazimierz Wladyslaw Markus, he came to Paris at the age of 20, where he became part of the cubist movement from the beginning.
