Bryan Lee O'Malley was born in London, Ontario, Canada. He has lived in Toronto and Nova Scotia, and now resides in the USA. He didn't finish his film studies and eventually chose a career in comics. He started out as a letterer with the Portland-based publisher Oni Press. His first published work was the Oni Press mini series 'Hopeless Savages: Ground Zero', written by Jen Van Meter. His first graphic novel was 'Lost at Sea' in 2003. He is best known for the 'Scott Pilgrim' series, published between 2004 and 2010. In August 2010 a film adaptation of this serial, called 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World', was released by Universal Pictures. O'Malley is also a songwriter and musician under the name Kupek.
